Case Study – Finishing Flourishes
Finishing Flourishes offers bespoke wedding and event styling, prop hire and floral design with fresh and artificial flowers.
Their business journey so far
After helping several friends to style their weddings and creating quite a lot of props in the process Bethan Boam decided to launch her business and follow her passion for flowers, design and event styling.
She has done her first Wedding Fairs and other promotional events and had excellent feedback from prospective brides and venues. The launch of Finishing Flourishes took place at Gratton Grange Farm Wedding Venue in the Derbyshire Dales on 20th May 2018.
Goals and aspirations
Bethan aspires to run a successful and viable business around caring commitments for her small daughter. Beth loves design and is enjoying building up a wide range of props to be hired using different styles.
Support
Bethan has taken part in several workshops with Growing Rural Enterprise, as part of the SCR Launchpad Project, part funded by Derbyshire Dales District Council. She has benefited from attending New Business Idea- how to make it work, Marketing and Promotion, Cash Flow Forecasting, Networking: Making the right first Impression and Photographing your Product. One to one support was offered initially to explore ideas and find an appropriate model.
Where are they today and what advice would they give others?
Chose a business idea that you love, something you’re good at, something people need and want to have. Bethan said:
“I would highly recommend the friendly and approachable support given by Growing Rural Enterprise. They have been very supportive and I have met some lovely people at the networking events and workshops.”
